Things to do in Mijas Pueblo

“La Casa de la Iglesia” (Church House) stands in the very heart of Barrio Santa Ana, the most authentic and traditional part of Mijas Pueblo, in the delightful square “Plaza de los Siete Caños” (Seven Spouts Square) which is adjacent to “La Ermita de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios” (Our Lady’s Hermitage), a beautiful little church built in the XVIII century.

”El Casco Histórico”, or old part of town, is a maze of narrow streets that retain the Moorish feel. The streets are so narrow that they are more suitable for donkeys than for cars. The centre of the “casco histórico” is the Plaza de la Constitución (Constitution Square) which leads to the ancient defensive walls once built by the “Moors”.

It only takes a few minutes to walk to the historic centre of Mijas Village with all its amenities … imagine, in the morning taking a short stroll to the bakery for fresh bread, pick up your daily newspaper and enjoy the lovely scenery of our village!

The enchanting village of Mijas is situated in the lowlands of the Sierra de Mijas mountain range and is surrounded by pine forest. The village nestles in the mountainside at 428 meters above sea level and has a population of 7,500. The nearest main town is the Spanish sea-side resort Fuengirola (8km), Malaga airport is 25 mins by car. Mijas has managed to retain much of its “white village” charm, with cobbled, narrow winding streets, dazzling whitewashed walls and breathtaking views.
